0 | BORED OF THE RINGS A development of the original adventure written by Fergus McNeill for Silversoft. Program by DELTA 4 Software * Part 1 * |
1 | Fordo stood in the party field under the great tent. Massive amounts of food lay heaped on the groaning tables. Hundreds of gatecrashing boggits floundered helplessly under the weight of their bloated stomachs. A hole in one side of the tent served as exit. |
2 | Fordo stood in the comfortable tunnel-like hall of Fag End. A large green door opened out onto the miserable "garden" kept by Spam the "gardener". |
3 | Fordo was now outside Bimbo's home, Fag End. A large green door led inside while to the east lay the road. |
4 | Fordo was on the road beside the party field to the east and Fag End to the west. The road lead south through the quiet village of Boggiton. |
5 | Fordo stood in the party field. A great tent had been erected and a hole in the thin fabric lead inside. The road skirted the west side of the field and beyond that stood Fag End at the end of Bogshot Row. |
6 | Fordo looked around the wreckage of the party. Broken tables and chairs lay buried under mounds of food and unconscious boggits. Gallons of ale seeped into the grass and shrapnel lay about where Bimbo's seat had been. |
7 | Fordo stood on the western end of the Brandname bridge. The deep water flowed noisily below him as he looked across to the east shore and Muckland. A road led south. |
8 | Fordo was in the "Lively Mush Inn", a small inn frequented by the yocals of Boggiton. The open door led back out onto the road. |
9 | Fordo was at the road junction outside the "Lively Mush Inn". The East Road rolled over the hills to the east, a road led south and another north into Boggiton itself. |
10 | Fordo was following the East Road which crossed the Shire from east to west linking the village of Boggiton with the Brandname bridge and eventually the small town of Whee! |
11 | Fordo gazed at the road junction he stood at. The East Road went east and west and a smaller road plunged south into the trees. |
12 | Fordo was on the west bank of the Brandname River. The road led west and north and a small track wound south through the fields to an old farm. |
13 | Fordo was travelling along the road, deep in the trees of the Green Hill Country. |
14 | Fordo looked around. He was now at Farmer Faggot's Triffid farm. To the south stood the ancient farmhouse while a track led off north towards the river. |
15 | Fordo was in the woods. He was completely lost and quite sure that he was wandering round in circles. The tall trees above all looked the same as he gazed about. |
16 | Fordo was seated at an old table in the farmhouse. Many barrels of ale were stacked up against one of the far walls and he also noticed a hefty pot, bubbling merrily on the stove. |
17 | Fordo was still lost in the wood and was beginning to wonder why he kept coming across the tracks of someone who wore exactly the same type of shoes as him. Yet he could not see a way out through the great trees. |
18 | Fordo relaxed in his house at Prickhollow. He felt safe inside these four paper-thin walls as he sat watching the cheery open fire burning steadily. |
19 | Fordo slouched against the hand- rail on the east end of the old Brandname bridge. The East Road led east, past Muck Hill into Muckland. The river gurgled damply. |
20 | Fordo was travelling through Muckland, passing Muck Hill. To the east was his house at Prickhollow, to the west, the Brandname river and the Shire. |
21 | Fordo leaned casually against a wall of his house. The road led east to the border of the Shire, and west. |
22 | Fordo was at the Hedge, which comprehensively blocked the way east. Paths led north, south and west back to Muckland. |
23 | Fordo was in the Old Forest and was very lost. |
24 | Fordo stood on the river bank, greatly relieved to be out of the Old Forest even though he had no idea where he now was. A large willow tree with long rubbery branches stood close by and the air was filled with a strange fragrance. |
25 | Fordo gazed down absently at the large under-hedge tunnel which, not unexpectedly, ran under the great hedge providing a way into the Old Forest. Paths led north, south and west. |
26 | Fordo stood at the forest end of the tunnel. To the west, stood the grim hedge, to the east, the grim Old Forest. |
27 | Fordo was in the Old Forest and was very lost. |
28 | Fordo was in the Old Forest and was very lost. |
29 | Fordo stood at the great Hedge which blocked the way east. The path led north and south. |
30 | Fordo was in the Old Forest and was very lost. |
31 | Fordo was in the Old Forest and was very lost. |
32 | Fordo was on the bank of the river. The old willow tree stood motionless and silent. A narrow path led east. |
33 | Fordo was following the narrow, winding path which cut through the trees roughly east to west. On a hill, to the west, he saw a yellow light shining out from one of the windows of Tim's old tumbledown shack. |
34 | Fordo was trapped inside the old willow tree! All was dark and stuffy! |
35 | Fordo relaxed. Tim's house was of an unusual style, being only one room which served as various rooms at different times. The tatty basketwork mats on the earthen floor served as seats, beds and tables. |
36 | Fordo stood outside Tim's little shack. Paths led west and south down the hill into the trees and onto the downs respectively. |
37 | Fordo was lost, wandering about on the downs. |
38 | Fordo was lost, wandering about on the downs. |
39 | Fordo was lost, wandering about on the downs. |
40 | Fordo trecked ruggedly along the well trodden, four lane, secret path known only to the Strangers who guarded the Shire. The path bent east and west. |
41 | Fordo stood and gazed down the great East Road. To the east, he could see the small settlement of Whee but to the west, the road dipped into a sinister and dark avenue, overhung by tall trees! |
42 | Fordo found himself outside the debatably pleasant village of Whee, said to be the centre of the boggit's tourist industry. The road led in, east and west. |
43 | Fordo stood on the road which led east to Rivendull and west to Whee. A large, neon sign indicated the turn off (north) to a secret pathway. |
44 | Fordo was following the East Road. A signpost pointing east vaguely suggested " Last Bridge 4 moves " |
45 | Fordo stood outside the " Puny Prancer Inn ". A road led out of Whee. |
46 | Fordo perched on the summit of Angem Suem or, as it was better known, Featherwop. A large rock lay flat on the ground beside a rough path which led down. |
47 | Fordo surveyed the scene inside the Puny Prancer. Eight completely stoned trolls lay in a tidy heap in an alcove, a small army of dwarves sat at the bar playing cards and desig- ning cigarette machines and a tall lizard was showing a balhog how well his pretty elven-maid prisoner fitted onto his tail. The usual. |
48 | Fordo was on a steep rocky path on the side of the mountain. The said path led up and south. |
49 | Fordo was on the west bank of the fast-flowing river. |
50 | Fordo was on the road which led east, towards dark mountain, and west. |
51 | Fordo was now on the East Road, skirting the southern edge of the tall mountain. The road led east and west. |
52 | Fordo found himself on the East Road. To the east, he saw the bridge spanning the river and beyond, the road to Rivendull. |
53 | Fordo stood on the western end of the toll bridge. Below, the river bubbled furiously and sent up a fine spray into the air. The road led away west. |
54 | Fordo was on the east end of the toll bridge. A road wound away east towards Rivendull. |
55 | Fordo was on the road between Rivendull and the bridge. |
56 | Fordo was on the western bank of the river, to the south of the bridge. |
57 | Fordo took in his surroundings. Around him were scattered the buildings of Rivendull. A large house stood here. Roads led away east and west. |
58 | Fordo stood at a road junction somewhere between Rivendull and the Wiffy mountains. Three roads led south, east and west. |
59 | Fordo shivered in the high pass "Cadaverous". Snow fell and was blown into deep drifts. The pass blocked, the only exit from this cold was west. |
60 | Fordo edged his way along the narrow east/west ledge which ran around the northern shore of the sinsister pond. The deep, dark water rippled slightly. He shuddered. |
61 | Fordo looked about him. He was in the house of Smelrond in the quiet settlement of Rivendull. In the room were some chairs and a long table. An open door led outside. |
62 | Fordo peered into the distance. He was on a small hill. The road led north and east. |
63 | Fordo was following a dried-up stream bed. To the east rose the great, dark cliffs at the Morona Gate while to the west were some low hills. |
64 | Fordo stood at a great dam, which held back a vast pond. A path led north round it and a narrow road went west beside the insignificant stream that emerged from the base of the massive dam. |
65 | Fordo stood in the shadow of the great Morona Gate. High cliffs towered far above him. The dark pool lapped softly onto the rocky shore. It was all too quiet! |
66 | Fordo had been captured by one of the black riders! |

0 | Bimbo stood up on his chair at the far end of the tent. The noise quietened down to a dull roar. "My fellow boggits", he began. There was a chorus of belching from the fellow boggits. "As much as I'd love to stay and annoy you, I can't. So, goodbye!" There was a large explosion (which killed several of the guests) and when the smoke cleared, Bimbo was gone! Fordo wandered outside. |
1 | Deciding to take no risks, Fordo plunged into the trees and hid. Moments later, a dark rider rode by. He stopped and seemed to be sniffing the air. Then, spurring his black mount, he emmitted one great and sour fart and rode on down the way. Fordo was shocked and went down into the trees to become utterly lost . . . . |
2 | The fragrance took effect and Fordo collapsed against the old willow tree and fell asleep. After a while he slowly began to come to . . . . |
3 | The tree began to pulsate and squeeze Fordo. Although he had to smile, this was torture and he couldn't hold on much longer! |
4 | Fordo cried for help. By a very improbable coincidence, he was rescued by a small man wearing flourescent pixie boots who very casually told the tree to lay off which it did . . . . |
5 | Fordo gasped, the tree shook and then everything else was lost in death . . . . |
6 | "Hello there!" said Bimbo. |
7 | "Hello Fordo." said Grandalf. |
8 | "Hello Fordo." said Borrower. |
9 | "Hi there, ring bearer!" said the dwarf. |
10 | "Hello." began Aragont. "I am Aragont son of Artifax and I have many names . . . . " "Shut your head!" suggested a voice nearby. |
11 | "Hello Fordy." said Pimply. |
12 | "Hi Fordy!" said Murky. |
13 | "Greetings" said Smelrond. |
14 | "Hello love." said Legoland. |
15 | "Well hallo there to you mister Fordo sir." said Spam. |
16 | Fordo waited for a while. Time passed. |
17 | As he entered, Fordo heard the end of a conversation between the old wizard and his uncle. " . . . and so we'll need to get some dense lemming to take it and dump it where old eyeball can't get it." said Grandalf. "But what stupid individual can we get for a suicidal folly such as this . . . " Bimbo stopped. They both looked at Fordo. |
18 | "Catch" remarked Bimbo as he tossed a small, gold, ring-like object across the room. With an astonishing lack of deftness, Fordo caught it. |
19 | "Ah, you will take it!", smiled Grandalf. "Good. You must go to the black land of Dormor and destroy it! But go thou first unto Smelrond at Rivendull. And now, I must go. I may see you. Bye!" "Good luck, favourite nephew!" called Bimbo as he and the old wizard hurried away. Fordo's boggit friends arrived. |
20 | Fordo had wandered aimlessly for so long that the hideous Nazal had come . . . |
21 | Fordo dropped the ring. The evil Nazal (who had been hiding near by) rushed out and grabbed it. So, the great quest ended in a miserable failure. |
22 | Fordo slipped the ring on and vanished. "Well, well. I wonder where the ring-bearer's gone!", said a voice sarcastically. |
23 | Fordo vanished! |
24 | Fordo examined the great ring. It was perfectly smooth apart from one bit where, written in ancient eastern runes were the words, "Made in Hong Kong". |
25 | "Bog off!" remarked Spam. |
26 | "Festive greetings." observed one of the wolfs. |
27 | "Good day." squaked a crow from somewhere high above. |
28 | "Verily and forsooth." Grandalf explained gravely. |
29 | "You must go quickly." Smelrond advised them amid the roar of Dormorian tanks and helicopters, "The enemy is becoming somewhat suspicious of my affairs with ring-bearing boggits." So saying, he waved to a large battle-troll breaking down the back door, and showed Fordo outside. |
30 | And so he trudged on and, from a group of distant trees, there came the sound of some great bird being briefly, but noisily, ill. |
31 | Suddenly, with a resounding crash, the doors were smashed open and in walked a tall, odd, idiotically dressed Stranger. Watched by all, he made his way inconspicuously over to Fordo and waited, trying not to look quite as suspicious as he was. |
32 | "Well, on we go!" said Fordo. |
33 | "But we don't want to!" wailed Murky and Pimply. |
34 | Spam appeared. |
35 | Spam, Murky and Pimply appeared. |
36 | Spam, Murky, Pimply and Grandalf appeared. |
37 | Spam, Murky, Pimply and Aragont appeared. |
38 | The company appeared. |
39 | Ancient prophesy stated that this couldn't happen yet! |
40 | "Well, to business I suppose." said Smelrond. "We cannot start the quest yet," said Grandalf, "because not everyone is here!" "Not another bodge-up!" groaned the narrator. |
41 | Fordo thought he could hear a horse coming along the road. |
42 | Tim and the boggits appeared. |
43 | "Hello there, like, groovy one!" jazzed Tim. |
44 | "Well, like, HI!" suggested Tim. |
45 | "Come on inside an' meet my girl, Hashberry." said Tim. |
46 | "Like WOW!" groaned Hashberry and collapsed into a heap. "Hey, well don' let ol' Hashy bug you. I's her day to go!" |
47 | Fordo playfully tripped Tim up. "GRRNAAGHH!" observed Tim as he crashed to the ground and a set of hypodermic syringes fell out of his pockets. "?" said Spam. "W- " began Murky. "Uh, well guys, you knoooow. Ol' Tim's a diabetic, yeh tha's it, a diabetic." He picked up his utensils and smiled. "?" repeated Spam, thoughtfully. |
48 | "Well, looky here! Ahm layin' some real good stuff on you guys but right now ol' Tim's gotta split. Bye." said Tim. He turned and wandered away. |
49 | Despite Fordo's attentions, Hashberry maintained her heap- like, unconscious state. |
50 | HA HA! Try again in parts 2 and 3 ! |
51 | "Hi there, little adventurers!" said the trendy barrow wight. |
52 | "Hello sir." said Butterballs. |
53 | "Oh fudge!" said a dwarf. "Remove hence to yonder place!" suggested another gesturing vaguely in the general direction of Manhattan. |
54 | The trolls, on the whole, said nothing. |
55 | Neither the Balhog or the lizard were interested. |
56 | "OOOOOOHHHHH. . . later, please! AAAAAAHHHHH YES, YES, YES!" gasped the elven-maid. |
57 | The trendy barrow wight began to jive. Then, he began to chant in the form of a rap, "Well hello little boggit, What can I do for you ? If you're going to Morona, then I may just have a clue!" Watched by Fordo, he started break-dancing and doing robotics and body-popping. |
58 | "Pepper" said the trendy barrow wight. |
59 | "Ooh Aar!" said Farmer Faggot. |
60 | Fordo drank the ale, hiccupped twice, threw up all over the place, fell over and felt much better. |
61 | Fordo munched the "magic beans" thoughtfully. Shortly, a pink elephant flew past. "My, my!" thought Fordo. "A pink elephant's just flown past." Soon, an entire squadron of pink elephants flew past, being hotly pursued by several brightly glowing, radio-active traffic wardens. The ground floated gently away and Fordo's eyes closed . . . Coroners verdict: overdose. |
62 | Fordo dropped the pepper. "AAAAAAACHOOO!" sneezed Giblet, blowing a massive hole in the rock face. Through this, the company did wander. A huge, slimy monster brandishing a putty knife rose out of the lake and rebuilt the cliff. WELL DONE. YOU HAVE COMPLETED PART 1 OF BORED OF THE RINGS. Here is your password to part 2: "GOOD TIME" |
63 | Fordo attacked the wolfs who all became scared and ran away. |
64 | Fordo attacked but soon had his skull cleaved. And so he died . . . . |
65 | In flourescent, scibbly runes was written on the rock, "GRANDALF WOZ ERE." |
66 | The jacket was boggit size. |
67 | The sword was short and strong. |
68 | Fordo noticed nothing of any real interest. |
69 | But there was nothing to attack. |
70 | But Fordo couldn't climb trees! |
71 | But boggits couldn't swim! |
72 | Fordo did, everyone died. |
73 | Watch thy language, scum-ball ! |
74 | However, Fordo was too young and innocent to understand that ! |
75 | "Alas." explained the narrator. |
