33 | Bimbo found himself in the dark woods on the eastern edge of Berkwood. A narrow, winding path led east and west and south between the gnarled trees. |
34 | Bimbo stood on the west bank of the black river. The oily water slopped messily about the bank and sent up a fine grey mist. Across the river, the far bank was just visible through the gloom of the overhanging trees. |
35 | Bimbo was in a little boat on the black river. |
36 | Bimbo was on the east bank of the black river. Several slimy looking rocks sat by the water's edge, covered in dark, glistening goo. A rough track disappeared into the trees to the east. |
37 | Bimbo found himself in the green depths of Berkwood. The path led west and south between the trees. To the northeast, stretched across a gap in the trees, was a huge expanse of spider web. Around the edges of it were hung a grissly assortment of skeletons with business cards in their bony hands. |
38 | Bimbo was in a place of black, rubber spiders on horrid elastic bands, bobbing about most unconvincingly. All the surrounding trees, to the north, south east and west, were strung up in webs. |
39 | Bimbo found himself in a deep, boggy marsh. A vaguely firm path (of sorts) wound away west between large tufts of imitation reeds and pond slime. |
40 | Bimbo was distressed to find himself in a smothering area of forest. Motherly, rubbery branches groped about him to flatten his hair and tuck his vest in. Between the hideous branches, the path twisted away north and east. |
41 | Bimbo was in a levelled, Elvish rubbish dump. Discarded logs, empty crisp packets and rusting Cherry Coca Cola cans littered the forest floor. To the north- east was a magic door, while a path led away west through the trees. Webs led to the east. |
42 | Bimbo discovered himself to be in the Elvenking's wine cellar. A heavy corrugated iron trapdoor was set into the flagstone floor while pink doors were set in the north and northeast walls. |
43 | Bimbo found himself in a dark, dank, dungeon of the Elvinking. Pink doors were set set in the west and southwest walls. |
44 | Bimbo was in the hall of the Elvenking. In the east wall was a pink door, in the southwest wall, a magic door. Flourescent corridors led away south and north. |
45 | Bimbo was in the Elvenkings toilet. The room was spartan, the only glaring feature being a tile in the north wall. An automatic door hummed quietly to the south. |
46 | (No entry) |
47 | Many tall, sinister trees overhung Bimbo on the forest road cutting east to west through Berkwood. strange cries drifted through the twisted branches. A path led north. |
48 | Bimbo found himself at a junction in the dark forest road. Council workmen had cleared ways east, west & south through the evil vegetation. |
49 | Bimbo stood at the base of a towering waterfall. Rampaging torrents trickled down from the rocks high above, eventually flowing south beside a narrow path. The overhung forest road dipped westward into the trees. |
50 | (No entry) |
51 | Bimbo was beside the River Walking, a small torrent which flowed from the north and gurgled in a vulgar fashion. A small forest path plunged east between the ancient tree trunks. A paved road led south. |
52 | Bimbo found himself on a broad, paved highway cutting north to south through the dark trees of Berkwood. The canopy of leaves was just thin enough to let through a faint dappling of light, showing the dying plants by the wayside. |

56 | Bimbo was outside the imposing "DOL Cooler" mental hospital, a huge, obeliskine tower, surrounded by white buildings. A road led north, the door was to the south. |
57 | Bimbo was inside the asylum of the Necromancer. He stood in a blank, white room with one door to the north and a small slot in the east wall. |
58 | Bimbo was in Drain's padded cell, heavily matressed on the walls, floor and ceiling. There was a tiny window in the roof and, in one corner, a solid concrete slab to sleep on. In the west wall was a small slot. |
59 | Bimbo stood in the empty place, a featureless expanse of dull wasteland. A path led up the dragon's mounatin, while a dirt track picked its way south. |
60 | Bimbo stood on a high, rocky crag on the Lonesome Mountain. Small paths twisted south, west and southwest down the mountain and a rope ladder vanished down into a large crack in the ground. |
61 | Bimbo was in a small, grassy bay, halfway up the mountainside. Moss covered rocks sat around being idle, and narrow paths snaked away north, northeast and south. |
62 | Bimbo was in a smooth, narrow passage, decorated with many vulgar mosaics. The passage dipped down to the east and up to the west. |
63 | Bimbo was in the lower halls, were the dragon slept. A singed rope ladder hung down from above. Huge, ornate, stone arches opened in the south and west walls. |
64 | Bimbo was on Ravenhill, an unseemly mound of something unpleasant, near the dragon's mountain. Narrow paths led away north, northeast, east & south- east. |
65 | Bimbo stood at the imposing front gate of the mountains. A large slab of solid rock had "NO MILK TODAY!" gouged into it and lay amid a pile of bones. The gate lay to the north, while paths led away south and east. |
66 | Bimbo stood in the desolate ruins of Dale Valley. Charred houses, looted shops and burnt- out automobiles stretched as far as the eye could see. |
67 | Bimbo was under the trapdoor. Water rushed up against a huge portcullis to the east. |
68 | Bimbo found himself in a smouldering desert, a once green and pleasant land before the dragon took up residence. A narrow path led down into a gully, a broader track went north. |
69 | Bimbo stood in the shadow of a massive portcullis. Water sloshed through a small gap below it, flowing east towards the lake. The portcullis was set into a smooth, grey rockface, completely unclimable. |
70 | Bimbo found himself on the shore of the Exagerated Lake. A river flowed from the west into the lake (which was to the east). |
71 | Bimbo was at the Exagerated Lake. To the east, the plywood buildings of Flake Town were visible, propped up on giant lolly sticks to hold them out of the water. Paths led away in all directions. |
72 | Bimbo was in Flake Town, a flimsy B&Q job, supported inches above the choppy waters of the Exagerated Lake. A wooden causway led west to the shore. |
73 | Bimbo stood, knee-deep, in the frothy waters of the river. The current was too strong to allow progress north, but a narrow track led up the side of the gully. |

0 | Certain, are we? |
1 | Bimbo waited. Time crawled slowly past. |
2 | Bimbo went out of his way to notice something interesting. However, he found nothing. |
3 | Bimbo examined the boat. It had a huge outboard motor, with a round, starting thingumy on top. |
4 | Examining the thingumy, Bimbo saw that the starting cord was missing. |
5 | On the card, in large, type- writer runes, were the words, "I wish thee to accompany some er, 'friends' on an adventure. See you soon. -GG- P.S. These chocs will self- destruct in 10 minutes." |
6 | Bimbo tied the rope to the starting thingumy. He then gave it a quick tug and the engine jerkily coughed into life. The rope slipped off and Bimbo stooped to retrieve it. |
7 | Bimbo thought it wisest to wait until the boat reached land before disembarking. |
8 | The diary was blank, save for some birthdays- Old Goop: 12/3/26 Fordo: 29/2/85 Farmer Faggot: 4/7/31 |
9 | Bimbo climbed into the boat. |
10 | The boat reached the far side of the river and the engine, as if by magic, cut out. |
11 | Bimbo climbed out of the boat. |
12 | The boat started chugging across the river. |
13 | Bimbo couldn't quite reach from the river bank. |
14 | Bimbo pulled the webs. Being rather flimsily secured, they quickly snapped. A green spider bobbed down from above on a stretchy piece of elastic and laboriously began fixing them with Airfix glue. |
15 | Bimbo tried to proceed but could not fight his way through the spider webs. |
16 | The minion greeted Bimbo. "Last chance to buy your duty free!" it cried, "Someone will realise that we've got to shore soon." The minion smiled at Bimbo. "We accept both credit cards and stolen goblin loot!" |
17 | "Wait, wait, kind sir!" said the minion hastily. "EVERYBODY buys something from me. Just drop your payment onto the floor of this fine vessel and you can have your Duty Free. Can't say fairer than that, can I now?" |
18 | "EHUHRAHKA!" yowled Bimbo in the ancient tongue of the kramoD people (a long-gone race of evil name-droppers from SW20) as he charged the minion. "Heavens!" shrieked the minion, stepping back in amazement, then wishing it hadn't. Bimbo watched as the river swept it away. |
19 | Bimbo dropped the credit card. |
20 | Bimbo dropped the Goblin's cash. |
21 | "Thank you!" smiled the minion, dropping the Duty Free, taking its payment, muttering a brief incantation and vanishing in a rather unspectacular flash of lights. |
22 | "I'm ever so," began the minion, "sorry!" it continued. "We cannot indulge in social chit-chat with clients!" |
23 | "Oh, good GRIEF! It's so boring round here!" droned the minion. There was the muttering of an incantation, a thunderflash, and almost immediately thereafter, no minion to be seen. |
24 | The spider was hanging upside down from a large tree, bobbing about on its long piece of elastic band. "Nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah!" it said. After a short pause, it produced a small notice with |
25 | "Ha! I'm up a tree and you can't get me. There's no way you can lure me down. You've failed!" |
26 | written on it in large, green letters. |
27 | Bimbo tried his speshul Ooh Aar Kung Fu on the webs, but to no avail! |
28 | Bimbo brandished himself in a most ferocious fashion but he could not reach the massive creepy crawlie. The spider, rather annoyed at being referred to in the text as "the massive creepy crawlie", hung around irritably. |
29 | Bimbo dropped the sandwich. "Gracious!" hooted the spider, "A real live marmalade sandwich unless I am very much mistook!" It floated down on its elastic and chalomped the sandwich. A moment passed, pausing only to stoop and tie its laces. Another followed. A third went by, inquiring as to whether anyone had seen the other two come this way. Meanwhile, the spider had died due to the arsenic in the sandwich. Hurn the hunter appeared amid trendy backlighting and a rather excessive fog. He took the spider unto himself and faded into the trees. |
30 | The spider turned its notice round to reveal |
31 | "I'm not listening. So there!" |
32 | The beholder advanced towards Bimbo, a huge peeper, surrounded by pale bulbous eyes on stalks. "Hello!" it rasped obnoxiously, "You're going to die now!" |
33 | The beholder stared at Bimbo. He felt a powerful surge of magic eminate from the eye and then... |
34 | It would take about 4k to put a proper ALL command into a Quill adventure! |
35 | Bimbo defiantly took a long drag on the cigarette. As the monster was eyeing him up (AARRGHH!) for a terminal magic zap, he blew a cloud of fine Turkish smoke at it. The little stalk-eyes whimpered with discomfort and, amid cries of "smog-king" and "unsociable", the beholder wept away. |
36 | One of the beholder's stalks snaked into view and dragged Bimbo back to his perceptive adversary. |
37 | Nobody talks to beholders. Well, not twice, anyway! |
38 | Bimbo greeted Grandalf. "Hello, my good boggit!" smiled the old wizard. |
39 | "Well, Hi!" |
40 | Bimbo greeted Thorny. "Yo!" returned the dwarf. |
41 | Bimbo greeted the dwarves. "Well, Hi there!" chorused the dwarves tunefully. |
42 | Ask your analyst! |
43 | "Lawdee!" cried the wooden elf. "Why if it ain't young mastah Bimbo. Land sakes! I gotta run you in, dayah bowy!" He produced a Chance card with "GO TO JAIL FREE. Do not pass Go. Do not collect `200." written on it. Bimbo came quietly. |
44 | Bimbo got physical, and bashed the wooden elf grievously. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ouch!" observed the wooden elf and ran away. |
45 | The necromancer appeared. |
46 | The necromancer vanished. |
47 | "Hello, flab features!" said the necromancer. "Although I am currently doomed to work in the NHS, my hour shall come. I will rule all of Muddle Earth. If any oppose me, I'll, I'll..... I'll make them eat cabbage!" he shrieked megalomaniacally. |
48 | Bimbo inserted the security card into the slot. There came a sound, like unto an ancient lawnmower being started, and the wall swept round, taking Bimbo with it.... |
49 | Bimbo untied Drain. "Thank 'ee kindly!" cackled Drain, toothlessly. He stood up, laughed, dropped something, and beat himself unconscious. |
50 | Drain, being out for the count, said very little. |
51 | With but a little effort, Bimbo succeeded in killing Drain. |
52 | Some stupid turk unlocked the pink door. |
53 | Some stupid turk locked the pink door. |
54 | Bimbo opened the pink door. |
55 | "Lux" said Bimbo. As if by magic.... |
56 | ...a floodlight appeared. It paused briefly and then roared away. |
57 | Bimbo closed the pink door. |
58 | The door, despite being pink, was solid enough to stop Bimbo. |
59 | The butler, being a typical fascist, threw Bimbo back into the dungeon. |
60 | Bimbo tried to make use of the toilet. Suddenly, a huge, bottle- shaped monster reered up out of the bowl and bit him horribly! "See you soon." it gurgled unpleasantly, and sank out of sight... |
61 | The butler roused himself enough to throw the barrel through the open trapdoor in the floor. He belched reflectively and got himself another barrel. |
62 | The butler opened the barrel. |
63 | The butler closed the barrel. |
64 | The butler drank the contents of the barrel, grinned and belched. |
65 | Bimbo climbed into the barrel just as the butler closed it. |
66 | Bimbo felt the barrel falling. |
67 | Bimbo heard a splash from outside. |
68 | Bimbo felt the barrel bobbing around. |
69 | The barrel finally ran aground and fell open. |
70 | A garden gnome, the easter bunny and Jack the ripper strolled by, pausing only to take the barrel with them. They soon vanished from sight. |
71 | "By the power of seasonally adjusted unemployment figures!" roared the butler, drawing a massive sword from across his back and suddenly looking rather impressive. He massacred a fairly dangerous- looking beetle crawling across the floor and posed. Bimbo decided not to attack. |
72 | Bimbo examined the magic door. By a startling coincidence, it was briefly opening for an elf to rush past. |
73 | Bimbo charged through. The magic door slammed shut. |
74 | The trapdoor was rusted in place. |
75 | Bimbo was swept against the portcullis, unable to move. |
76 | Bimbo ambled south, accidentally falling off a waterfall in the process. |
77 | "Hello!" said the portly Lard. "You must be the fool who's off to kill the dragon! I can do you a very nice bow and arrow but you'll have to give me a couple of worthy items in exchange." |
78 | "Oh No! I'm not going near that horrid mountain." said Lard. "Anyway, I hate dragons. They just don't agree with me!" |
79 | The key had "Studio 7d" written on it in bankrupt runes. |
80 | The key was small, curious, and useless. |
81 | The luncheon was sort of flat and round brown things. What- ever they were they didn't look very appetizing. |
82 | The clothes line was just a length of rope. |
83 | The sandwich had a vague aroma of almonds. |
84 | The notice read, "I am trying to gain legal custody of my egg from the eagle. For this I need cash. If you help me, I'll help you. This is a recording." |
85 | The bird flew away. |
86 | The treasure was about 5 tonnes of gold and jewels. |
87 | The security card had, "ACCESS TO RESTRICTED AREAS" written on it. |
88 | The Barkenstone was beautiful, crafted from plastic in the great workshops of the east. |
89 | The sword was plain, save for, "HE-MAN" written on the blade. |
90 | The ring was a flat, gold disk with a large hole in the middle. |
91 | Camel (middle tar) of course. |
92 | TrussCard- supports your buying whims. |
93 | The egg was fried, sunny side up. |
94 | The pink key was decorated with yellow flowers. |
95 | "Crikey!" exclaimed Lard. "Enough booze for my birthday party next week!" |
96 | Bimbo's dwarf chums appeared. |
97 | Thorny appeared. |
98 | Grandalf appeared. |
99 | "Oooh! A key! I wonder if it might fit that lock on the girl next door's chastity belt?" He looked very thoughtful. |
100 | "Ta very much!" said Lard. He picked up the key and duty free, dropped the bow and arrow, and wandered away. |
101 | "Fraternal salutations!" greeted Lard, warmly. |
102 | "Hello, tea-leaf!" smouldered the dragon. |
103 | "Woof!" observed the warg. |
104 | "Okay!" came the reply. |
105 | "No way!" came the reply. |
106 | "What?! Shoot dragons?!" cried Lard, shocked. "I couldn't hit the proverbial barn door. In fact, I'm even worse than that 'Bard' bloke from the other game!" |
107 | This will mean saving data and going into the next part of the adventure. Are you sure you want to do that? |
108 | All right, saving time again. Set up your tape deck with a blank cassette, ready to save. Then press a key, at which point your position will magically be stored on the tape. Reset the machine, load part 1, reload your saved position and, DA, DA, DA! You can continue! |
109 | There was suddenly a tremendous roar. It was Bimbo's stomach, as the little boggit was getting weak from hunger. |
110 | Bimbo stopped, his head realing. His legs slowly folded under him and the ground rushed up to bash him on the nose. His hunger had finally caught up with him. He was dead. |
111 | Bimbo ate his luncheon. |
112 | Towering over fifty feet high, the dragon stepped out from behind a small pebble. "Ha!" it said. "Come for the treasure, I should imagine. Yes. Rather pointless if you ask me. You see, I'm utterly invincable, completely everything-proof." Smoke curled out of the great monster's ears. "Now, go away. If I see you up here again.... well, just don't come back!" The dragon gave Bimbo one of its special Hard Stares and flapped away. |
113 | Need some help? Fear not! YOU can write to one of the magazine helplines, thus giving us lots of free publicity and press coverage. It's tough at the top, or so we're told. |
114 | But Bimbo had no weapon! |
115 | Bimbo did glorious and noble battle, emerging triumphant! |
116 | But no foes abounded here! |
117 | "Cheep!" smiled the bird. It rumaged around somewhere, and held up a piece of paper with, "The Dragon has a weak spot in his tail. Shoot him there where his scales do not protect him." |
118 | Bimbo shot the arrow. |
119 | He missed by miles. |
120 | The arrow bounced off the dragon harmlessly. |
121 | The arrow penetrated the huge dragon's tale, wrecking some vital organ and killing the beast! |
122 | "Right, that's it!" snarled the dragon. "You've had your chance!" Bimbo was quickly toasted... |
123 | A voice eminated from the space cruiser. "Greetings, Muddle Earthling. We find ourselves trapped on your world as our propulsion crystal has failed. You must help us." |
124 | "Sod you then!" said the space cruiser. A ray of magic light spat down and Bimbo was no more... |
125 | "Oh. Thanks." said the voice. The space cruiser and the Barkenstone shimmered away. |
126 | The necromancer was too insane for that! |
127 | Something opened the pink door. |
128 | The pink door slammed shut. |
129 | Load your saved position... |
130 | "Cheep! Cheep! Cheep! Cheep! |
131 | Cheep!" said the bird. |
132 | Cheep! Cheep! Cheep! Cheep! |
133 | Bimbo ate the egg. |
134 | However, Bimbo knew this to be unimportant. |
135 | Your size! |
136 | Drain was a bit too tied up to chat. |
137 | Bimbo drank the wine. He shuddenly felt very shilly and had to shit down. He shoon shtood up again. |
138 | The tile had, "I don't believe in watery tarts!" scrawled on it. |
139 | Beneath the slot was written, "INSERT CARD FOR ENTRANCE" in cashpoint runes. |
140 | "See his deadly, flashing blade" sang a distant voice. |
141 | The bow looked very powerful. It was triple strung and could be configured for violin use. |
142 | The label on the jacket had "Chelsea Boggit size 10" written in designer runes. |
143 | A veritable barrister's ransom. |
144 | NOBODY LEAVES THE EMPTY PLACE THAT WAY! |
145 | IT'S NOT A LOT TO ASK! |
146 | So! You wanna play games? Go try your luck in part 2. There's more than meets the eye here! |
147 | FOUL LANGUAGE, EH! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? SOMEONE FROM ------? |

Bimbo found himself in the dark woods on the eastern edge of Berkwood. A narrow, winding path led east and west and south between the gnarled trees.
